Short Biography

Joy was born in Jamaica but raised in Doncaster in true Jamaican style. Times were tough for her parents coming into a foreign country in the 60's she watched her father gradually turn to the bottle, becoming an alcoholic. Sadly she was often beaten when her father couldn't handle things. My mother could not cope and fell into a deep depression. So Joy learned early on in life how to do what she was told, without questioning or answering back for fear of retribution and had little chance for childhood play. To support her family, Joy learned to cook and iron and clean as this was the reason for her existence in the eyes of her parents.

With a handful of good grades from school, joy eventually left home to study and although effectively abandoned by her parents, she achieved her dream of making a life worth living against all the odds. Joy worked as a technical designer to Marks & Spencers, as a marketing executive for Mars; and an area sales manager for Avon Cosmetics.

Leaving the corporate world behind in the mid 2000's, Joy has gone on to run her own speaking business, working with business leaders and their teams to master challenges, increase personal effectiveness and achieve success. Her impressive client list includes Aon, the NHS, the Police, Oracle, PepsiCo, Saint-Gobain, Michelin and more.
